Changing our health involves changing our lifestyles. Too many lives are lost unnecessarily to medical conditions. Don't wait until health issues develop to make healthier choices. And if you have health issues, change your lifestyle now. It's time to create a movement that advocates for healthier lifestyles. Many of us take multiple medications with scary side effects and are not willing to eat the foods that will contribute to our overall health. Help us change the trajectory of illness resulting from years of not taking care of our bodies. Let's put our health first and everything else will follow.

I use to think that my doctors would manage my health, but I soon realized that managing my health is my responsibility. I also thought doctors would communicate with one another, utilize their skills to keep me on track, diagnose any illnesses and help me determine what was best for me. While some of us are fortunate to have great doctors the majority of doctors are in business and have so many patients that it doesn't afford them the opportunity to make you their priority. You are your priority and if you don't coordinate services yourself and advocate for yourself critical medical conditions could be missed which could delay proper treatment. While doctors may be experts in their fields you are the expert regarding your body. That is why 2nd and 3rd opinions are important and recommended. I've seen many important details missed from one specialist to another. Unfortunately for some patients those mistakes are life threatening. Create a folder of test results and keep a log of what you eat and feel daily. Make sure your primary care doctor has test results from any other doctor you see. Also talk to others about your symptoms. I found so much invaluable support when I stopped suffering in silence. Advocate for yourself because your health matters!
Forgiveness is an essential part of mental health. The capacity to forgive brings freedom to your spirit and peace to your soul. It brings healing to hurt hearts and allows us to celebrate our own humanity. Forgiving someone doesnt mean you have to resume past relationships but it does mean you rid youself of festering negative emotions that only cause harm to a beautifuI spirit. Forgive and move on.
Let's not forget about our mental health when we talk health. Our mental well being helps us to take care of our physical selves. When you are on overload there is nothing wrong with talking to a therapist. In fact, it is probably one of the best things that you can do to help yourself process and move forward. Don't let old stigmas keep you from speaking to a professional. As always, remember, your health matters!
Depression comes in many forms and while sadness is a normal part of life, depression can be very debilitating if not handled properly. If you have been depressed for more than 2 weeks seek professional help.
There are many symptoms of depression to watch out for.
